The quality and integrity of any pond monitoring systems begins with
the accuracy and reliability of the dissolved oxygen readings taken
as well as the maintenance, longevity and flexibility of the instrumentation
used. In all of these areas, Oscar is unsurpassed. This accomplishment
did not happen overnight but took years of experience to develop and
test the technology so that today, you have the latest and best that
technology has to offer.
It all begins with the buoy, which we call ‘OscarBuoy’.
This buoy is a free standing, wireless buoy that you can place anywhere
in your pond. When it’s time to harvest your fish, you can
simply pick it up over the net without having to worry about long
wires back to the shore. OscarBuoy is solar powered and uses an
internal battery to store power for night operation as well as enough
reserve power to carry it through cloudy days.
OscarBuoy is constructed using a fiberglass instrument
case that is impervious to sun and weather and includes an easy
access flip top for easy and quick access of the buoy interior.
The metal used in OscarBuoy is all stainless steel and is unaffected
by salts and other water corrosives. OscarBuoy’s flotation
is supplemented by two PVC floats as well as interior foam. It is
unsinkable. OscarBuoy also contains a float switch, so that if water
is detected in the buoy (from unlatched lid), then an alarm will
be posted for your attention.
At the heart of OscarBuoy is its microcomputer control
board. This single printed circuit board is the evolutionary result
of years of development and refinement and offers the ultimate in
simplicity and reliability. This microcomputer controller not only
monitors and controls the D.O. Probes attached to it as well as
the solar / power environment, but it also handles the UHF radio.
It’s all in one, water tight box . That means simplicity, reliability
and economy.
Because not all farms and farmers are alike, Oscar
offers several options when it comes to D.O. Probe selection. No
mater which probe you select though, it is guaranteed to be accurate,
reliable and proven. The two types of probe / assemblies offered
are:
1. Brush - Utilizes large Sensorex or Oxyguard probes
which are widely used in the industry and are well known for their
long life, accuracy and reliability. These probes have a replaceable
membrane and are manually calibrated. One year warranty and expected
5 year life on probe.
2. Pump / Oxygen Cell - Utilizes a simple pump to
deliver water to an oxygen cell that does not require membrane replacement.
Very low maintenance probe utilizes a chlorine tablet for algae
control. Automatic calibration and low initial cost. One year warranty
and expected three year life on the probe.

- Wireless radio communication with ‘Dad”
on shore or ‘Mom’ at home.
- Marine solar panel - No power wires from
shore.
- Virtually no installation costs. Just place
it anywhere you want in your pond.
- Easily lifts over the net when seining is
done.
- Battery powered for operation on cloudy days.
- Fiberglass & stainless steel construction.
